ApproachMy training and experience makes use of tools and strategies which can help turn things around. I offer support and objectivity in a way most friends and family can't. I will listen and work with you in ways that strive to match your outlook and personal style. I often spend time outside of sessions, considering my clients situations and how I can best serve them. If you choose to see me, I will do my best to help you transform the difficulty that brings you in and conclude therapy with a sense of your own strength, meaning, and accomplishment. Underlying Philosophy We all face normal transitions in love, health, and vocation at various stages in our lives. At times, we have difficulty adjusting to changed circumstances or find it hard to take effective action that will make our lives more satisfying. Therapy is a wonderful resource to help you achieve your goals or resolve a difficult situation. Periodic and brief "tune-ups" make good sense as lifespans continue to increase and society changes at an ever-increasing pace. Life is complicated and it's easy to become confused or stuck. Recognizing this and choosing to consult with a professional who will help you is a positive first step. It shows courage, strength, and insight. I aim to help you achieve lasting benefit in your life and relationships. Guiding Principles
BackgroundAs far back as I can remember, I have had a knack for knowing when other people are hurting, and have always wanted to be able to help. I believe there is too much suffering in the world. After all, what’s the purpose of being here if we can’t take joy in it and allow others the same freedom? However, when I went to college, I was intrigued by computers and decided to study Information Technology. I happily worked with computer systems for over a decade. Then I started to lose my zest for it. I re-connected with my deep satisfaction in working with people directly and helping them find their unique answers to the common questions of living. (You might be surprised to hear those two fields have many skills in common.) I completed a Master's of Arts in Counseling Psychology at the Adler Graduate School. I have additional training in several types of therapy to broaden and strengthen my ability to provide quality services to you. I'm especially interested in helping with topics related to personal development and growth. We all have experienced issues in creating satisfying relationships, communication, conflict, and change. Few of us pick up the skills and learning to serve our needs well in negotiating these aspects of everyday life. Counseling can help you clarify your goals, select methods to attain them, and take steps to make positive changes.
